about

Tess Meyer is a dressage rider and instructor, artist, and AmSAT certified Alexander Technique teacher. She received her BA from Bennington College in dance and visual art, and completed an intensive three-year, 1600 hour certification program in the Alexander Technique in NYC in 2014.

Tess began studying with dressage trainer, FEI competitor, and “A” rated USPC rider Maria Wasson at age five, and went on to learn about natural horsemanship via the Buck Brannaman lineage and assist Maria as a young adult. During college Tess rode for a local Grand Prix trainer, and immediately began making connections between her evolving somatic movement education and her dressage practice. This eventually lead

to the development of an Alexander Technique based movement program for riders with a focus on proprioceptive awareness, muscle release and the activation of deep postural support.

Tess has extensive experience riding and working with a wide variety of horses ranging in breed, age, and ability; including starting colts and maintaining FEI level show horses. She currently studies with classical dressage trainer Bettina Drummond as well as several senior Alexander Technique instructors. Tess teaches, trains, and runs intensive retreats from her beautiful farm in Hoosick Falls, NY.
